That is a really good expectations-management and informative post, btw. Thank you for taking the time to document that. I have been contemplating some of this stuff as a "what if" at some point in the future, but clearly I didn't understand the scope or scale of what needs to be done.
I have a modified version of this on my race car (for class rules). There are many photos in my build thread and I can also pull up some from a photoshoot in 2019.
Good point about the variety of applications...HRMMMMMAlso quick note on your shock reservoir mount, I would strongly suggest a second support to keep the reservoir from vibrating itself to death in a cantilever. It looks like there's a threaded hole nearby in the chassis that you might be...
This also perks my interest...haven't modeled in 3D in a long time but how hard can it be? Question is do I have stuff I would actually use this for HRMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
For anyone thinking of attending, this is always a GREAT event with a big turnout, especially in the Race and TT groups.
Car is still down and various other obligations prevent me from making it this time, however.
The engine weighs around 500lbs dressed, so if you lower that an inch, you are also lowering the resultant CG of the vehicle, which will reduce the lever effect of the CG on the suspension as the car rolls, pitches, and dives.
Those problems tend to "resolve themselves" over time; hopefully nobody gets hurt during that process. Give people like that a wide berth. Sucks you have to limit your options and take care because of someone else's inadequacies.
