Actually just checked my file and have the #300 rear spring in the car now. Would like to go softer, but with a big wing I would have a hard time looking over the hood at speed.Funny how back then the GTI was the drivers car. Nothing like a first love.
Big fan of Cortex, but for me, had to go down to #500/#350 springs to get some more grip. without a big wing, then #300 for the rear would be better. Needed the softer rear for better corner exit, probably the best performance point of the S197.
Wish I knew that before busting three engines..... Nothing like hindsight.Definition of insanity.... repeating the same mistakes and expecting a different result.
Very true! they measure us some 3m from the exhaust! Have gone to the booth with the rear muffler stuffed full of steel wool. Until I saw a rx7 with the same cheat catch fire....
Oh boy!! you can get to 99 db!! Your lucky! Down here, for our biggest track, we have to go to a sound booth and measure no more then 90Db at 6000 rpm. Its all a art form to get your Db's down and not loose power. But it can be done.Actually since Laguna has a 90db limit as well, You can see...
Am a big fan of the OP mustang spacers. Most of my track buddies down here have them without any problems.https://www.opmustang.com/store/p364/OPRacing_4th_Generation_Hub_And_Wheel_Centric_Slip_On_Wheel_Spacer_-_SET_OF_2_SPACERS.html#/
No negatives at all to proper hubcentric spacers. Most of us here do. Had a doubt so I just went out to check, my spacer is a 15mm from OP Mustang, not a 25mm. the 25mm is for those without the Cortex offset struts. I put the 15mm in for the extra space mentioned above.Sorry about that!
These coyotes are not that easy to rebuild well. Did a few simple engines before with success many years ago, but I would not want to do a Coyote myself. Have to look up the parts you need but am sure some one will chyme in before I dig them up, its straight forward enough though. My gen3 was a...
To be as accurate as possible, with 25mm extra ment you have no danger of touching with -4.5 camber. I found that -4.5 camber was to expensive on tire wear so I settled for -3.5. No problem at the rear, no spacer required with the upside down cortex setup.
Dam, sorry to see that... Now you have to look at your options. Minimum rebuild or a gen 3 block. In the end, the price comes out pretty close but sooner or later we all get to the same place you are at now.Done minimum rebuilds... I think those are for when you want to sell the car. Done...
I have the Apex 18x11 EC-7 wheels with the Cortex offset struts and use them with 25mm spacers as well with 315/30-18's. Just so I could play with up to -4.5 camber.
