New rear has t2r used in it set up already but 1 axle spins 1 way the other reverse spin?
2 other rears spin both axles same way even if some one hold other axle! They lock up. Not this unit. Also 1 imsa team only ran lockers in there fr500c and boss 302R cars.
Looks like torsen 2. But you really can't tell the difference of the t2 or t2r by looks . I find it easier to swap hole rear if I change gear ratios.
I had 3.73 rear 4.10 rear in car now and new 1 is 4.30 .
I called torsen up asked if they rebuild them or sold parts to rebuild them BIG NO! only...
The torsen 2r I've used in 3 different rears. I like them and yes t2r are expensive. New rear I am going Detroit locker. May reason is see if there difference from t2r.
Also the Detroit locker are rebuildable and parts are available the torsen's either t2 or t2r are NOT rebuildable nor do they...
That piston is junk. I have heard of reman, s failing with track use. New oem not sure they are still available. If you set that needs rebuilding send them to Apple hydraulics on long Island ny . Call speak w Lars tell him usage he knows his stuff.
as for cause looks like piston got cocked...
I have set of new in the ford boxes from ford racing spindles . Mag and x-ray checked by ford . These are from multimatic used on fr500c cars 19mm ball joint. 350 + shipping.
If 09 car then they fit. If boss car they won't fit. They use 21 mm balk joint. Chris

when you compare torsen to Detroit locker and the torsen rear being unrebuildable and the locker can be rebuilt. 1k every 5 yrs???
I have 4 rears with t2r in them but leaning towards a locker. Jbs ran lockers in there fr500c and boss R cars in imsa.
Actually the t2r unit is the race unit. These were std in the fr500c, fr500s, boss 302s .it is tough unit and will handle more hp than the t2 unit. Neither unit is recommended for drag racing.
Torsen has good web site. They are made in Rochester ny. Only draw back is it's not rebuildable.

All the racing parts In my opinion are meant to be used in conjunction with the other parts of that system. Abs unit/ brakebuster/ master cylinder. Ect.
The fr500c and boss R have abs shut off switches. Eliminates ABS altogether.
The Fr500c brake busters are absolutely crazy money, a close...
No alternative #. All ford racing abs units for s197 cars were discontinued, fr500c fr500s boss302 s and r units are no more. There were built special for racing by trw. There is 1 used unit left that I returned to the race team.
